Insurance and non Type-Approved/E-Marked parts
Discussion
A question has arisen over on another Forum over the use of certain brake components (discs and pads) which do not appear to have the requisite EU approvals for road use.
When ordering the parts, the prospective purchaser has to acknowledge that they will not be used on the road, i.e. they will be used for competition purposes only.
My question is - what are the insurance implications if somebody were to buy and instal said items on a road car which was subsequently involved in an accident? Could the insurers simply back out of a claim, and declare the policy void?
