Removing wiper scratches

I've got some nasty scratches on my windscreen from the wipers and wondered if anyone has any tricks as to how to remove them? I tried wire wool which cleaned the screen nicely but didn't notice any difference in the scratches!

Google? Why not ask on a motoring forum what others may have done with scratches on their windscreens?

0000 grade wire wool is a well known method used by detailers for cleaning windscreens, but it didn't remove the scratching.

The rouge sounds like it's worth a go before I take other steps of either getting a professional to do it or a new screen.
