So hard to make a decision! She needs something small-ish that's easy for elderly parents to get in and out of the back seat and has a bit of leg room/space in the back. This rules out most standard small cars as there's just so little room in the back. Needs to be relatively low insurance group as teenage daughters are also on insurance policy. Needs to have at least some guts, so not the 60bhp nonsense such as the polos et al. More like 90bhp+ really, but can't go too high because of teenagers on insurance...

Searching seems to have led us to the Nissan Note only from facelift in 63 on (either 1.2 dig-s or 1.5 dci), golf plus (pushing it a bit on insurance though) or the B-Max in ecoboost form or 1.5/1.6 tdci.

Same old problem as always when looking at cars. Massively polarised opinions out there from professionals and public alike. We went and sat in about 3,000 cars in the available car castle donington supermarket today and still aren't much the wiser. It's amazing how bloody horrible some cars are inside and the massive variation in seat comfort/support when you sit in one after another. Peugeot 308 was surprisingly spacious and comfortable whereas Ford Focus was poky and fairly nasty.

Anyone got any relevant experience or just comments/general abuse as it may help narrow down the choice even more. i.e. did you have a Nissan Note that spontaneously combusted or something?

Tripped over a B-Max at a ford dealer today with a very motivated sales guy and got a 2014 Zetec 1l 125 ecoboost in white with 10k miles on the clock for £9k including £300 p/ex for a failing Honda Jazz, so B-Max it is!
