I'm doing a tour of Germany in a few weeks time and I've just noticed that one of the places I'm staying is less than an hours drive from the Ring.
I wouldn't be taking the car on it but is it worth it just for a look around? Is there anything to do other than just get on the course?

Loads of good info, thank you.
I am travelling solo so no danger of the OH getting bored (or telling me off for how I'm driving smile ) so I'll probably have a good look around at all your suggestions.

Will you be doing a write up as you go along? Please do
I wasn't going to bother this year as I thought it might be getting boring but seeing as you've made the effort to request it...smile

Unless you are a veggie...
I'll give you one guess!

Thanks for the suggestion anyway, perhaps I'll grab a cheese roll in there smile

Do you have any idea of the dates your planning on visiting?

A rather weird little Dickie Bird has asked me to help you out here, I don't have the time today but I'll send you an Email tomorrow.
Adenauer, I am intrigued!

I'm staying at this hotel:

http://www.weinromantikhotel.com/

on the 29th of June for 3 nights, so moving on early morning of the 2nd July.

Google maps is telling me it's a 48 minute drive to the Ring from the Hotel.

I'm sure they have some veggie options as it's largely Italian, it's best known for that steak. The place is worth a look too.
I'll get in there then Magic, Italian is the easiest food for veggies, always a choice of stuff.

Great
I can assure you, not one person here will be bored of reading about a petrol head in a supercar!
Okay John I'll try and put something interesting up as I go along, leaving England on the 22nd.

Thanks Adenauer for a very comprehensive overview, I will certainly follow your suggestions (except for the lap, I'll leave that to others!)
