Red Victor at it again!

That old Vauxhall is off to Bahrain to claim its street legal record back - here's how to get involved

Everyone who knows just a little bit about drag racing will know about Red Victor, the Vauxhall Victor owned and raced for many years by Andy Frost. Up until 2014 it was the world's fastest street legal car, the record taken at that time by Larry Larson with a 5.88-second run.

Next stop Bahrain!
Next stop Bahrain!
But now Andy and his team are back, competing at the Bahrain Drag Racing Club for this season and determined to reclaim that record. The car has been rebuilt and is now producing in the region of 4,000hp (!), the aim being to get the car to a five-second quarter-mile. Which would be a fairly emphatic way of reclaiming the record.

We've had a chat with Andy about the project and it's clearly been a labour of love for him, a huge amount of time and effort put in beside his day job. This on top of the fact the Red Victor, in one form or another, has been around a for a while now: the Red Victor story goes back to the 1980s!

While the Red Victor rejuvenation has been largely in secret for many months, the project is now going public to gain the last bit of required support. Getting a car and a crew to Bahrain is not a cheap endeavour! If you can pledge anything then the team would of course hugely appreciate any contribution, and it means you could be involved with a world record. Donate here, and we'll keep you posted as to Andy and Red Victor's progress!
