Yesterday I decided to see how much I could get in there.
After the initial few clicks from the pump, I very lightly pressed down on the trigger and over the course of a couple minutes, trickled in another 4 Quid's worth of petrol.
I've read online most cars have an overflow tube which leaks petrol onto the floor but that didn't happen. Is there any harm in doing this? Was out of morbid curiosity more then anything

So no real harm in it? No smells of petrol on the drive home, just a heavy, sloshy car. Beats paying motorway prices though

I have a phantom fuel stealer in my car. It's meant to have a 45 litre tank, so 10 gal give or take. When it's empty (as in showing 15 miles range and fuel gauge on empty) it's showing as 8 gallons used, so where did the rest go?

It has implications for my mpg too. 240 miles out of 8 gallons is a respectable 30mpg. 240 miles out of 10 gallons means i'm doing 24....

I always overfill too, so no idea at all where it's going! eek
Inaccurate distance to empty + worse mpg than you think
