So my neighbour has a wierd friend. This guy is eccentric but quite rich.

For example he drives a 1998? BMW Z3. Turquoise. Worth around £3k. He bought it off the neighbour and ran it around on the neighbours own private plate for a good year before finally putting it on his own. This was 4 years ago.

But his personalised plate, one of many he has is worth around £70k.

Anyway, for another reason I did a check on that plate and he hasn't taxed or MOT'd the car it is on for 3 years.

Now should I report him for this? Because it is likely he is uninsured. Should I feel guilty if he killed a child or something? I don't know how karmic reporting him would be. And is it really anonymous? he is a "gentleman of stature" I guess that is the closest way of putting him in our local community.

Thanks

I ran the check because the neighbour was boasting about how rich his friend was. Having a general gist of private plates I wondered who in their right mind would put a plate worth around 70k on an old bmw z3... I presumed he had just bought some plates off ebay and stuck them on to impress the neighbour so I ran a check and sure enough the plates match the car but then it said the car hasn't been MOT'd or taxed for 3 years.

I would have thought a load of people on PH would be more pissed about a guy not paying insurance, tax or MOT on a car for 3 years than what or why I looked it up.

There are no ANPR cameras around here.

I think we have found the reason he wants to report him.

Jealous of his money.

Why else would you look this information up.

People hate success frown
Yeah I am so jealous of a guy who owns a 98 z3.

Thank god the OP isn't my neighbour, and that ain't because my cars aren't insured, I would just hate to have such a nosy waste of breath living anywhere near me.
I just moved to the NW, so...it could be possible.

You're coming across as a bit of an idiot.
The thread obviously hasn't gone the way you'd anticipated, just leave it, and hope it eventually fizzles out biglaugh

I wasn't going to update this thread due to all the PC mongs in it who have more of a problem with me "being nosey" than someone breaking the law but I have an update.

He was round with his car yesturday, again the plate caught my eye. I decided to do a new check on the car/plate and the car is SORN....yet he is obviously driving it around on the public highway.

Advice now or should I go shop myself to the police for using the DLVA site instead? rolleyes
