Where is my spare key?
Discussion
I keep our spare car keys in a safe.
However I have been to the safe to get my spare key and it is not there.
My wife and I have access to the safe and she is unlikely to have taken the spare key.
Where has it gone?
Note: I am exhibiting no other signs of dementia and haven't become incontinent yet

Under what circumstances/event would you have considered removing it from the safe?
For example, if you went on a long trip and wanted to make sure the spare was in your wife's handbag, in case you lost the original.
or, you dropped it in for a service and offered up the spare as that keyring does not contain your door key and x, y, or Z item.
Have you recently undertaken any such 'event'??
The last time I am SURE I handled the key was when I shut my no.1 key in the front door and bent it. I swapped keys.For example, if you went on a long trip and wanted to make sure the spare was in your wife's handbag, in case you lost the original.

I MIGHT have used it in April when I took the car for service. I have left a message with the dealership just in case.

Have you been on holiday recently? Perhaps you hid it in a shoe box in the shed with all your other keys while you were away, like I do.
Oh st
This could be an explanation. When we have had building work done I have sometimes moved valuables elsewhere. I may have done so just as I received an important call or some such and forgotten that I have done it.Oh st

Your wife has it.The key is gone.
One person does not have it.
Who has the key?
She has it. Ask her nicely.

I spent the 2 weeks running up to my last trip abroad looking for my passport.
The day i would need to bite the bullet and head into London to get a new one made i opened up my safe to get my birth certificate and found i had put my passport in there.
At no point in the preceding 2 weeks when i had thought, "where is the safe place i put my passport?", had i twigged that it might be in the fking safe. But the moment i needed to find the safe place i had put my birth certificate my memory had that answer right there.
I am not a smart man at times.
One of my theories is currently that when I damaged the other key I fetched the new one from the safe. Then I elected to straighten the one I'd bent and return the spare to the safe. Except the spare never made it that far. It COULD be in the pocket of an item of clothing somewhere. Possibly in Oxfam.The day i would need to bite the bullet and head into London to get a new one made i opened up my safe to get my birth certificate and found i had put my passport in there.

I have other theories, most of which centre upon me being a bit of a tard.

Shirely you can get a cheaper spare key than main dealer prices. I've had a mobile locksmith break into a car, remove the barrel, cut and programme a key for less than that (10 years ago)
I intend to research it.But there is still the problem of where the other key is. It's very, very odd that it is missing.

The only remaining conclusion is that it never made it back into the safe when you straightened it.
So;
Where did you straighten it? (Is it still there on a shelf, or behind a worksurface)
Would you have been wearing old clothes/Overalls?
What time of year was it? (Coat weather?)
What rooms are on the route?
I have been through this mental process but to no avail. I cannot recall the time of year but am guessing it was 6-9 months ago. So it would have been jacket weather. I am getting my winter clothes out soon so I will check all pockets.So;
