Jaguar XF Sportbrake test pics
An XF wagon is on the way and it's looking good!
In the Jaguar way it is likely to be called Sportbrake, replacing the original XF Sportbrake much sooner in the XF lifecycle than that car did. With a new E-Class Estate already available and a 5 Series Touring on the way, the Jag certainly won't want for rivals. That's in addition to the wealth of SUV alternatives too.
These first spy shots of an XF Sportbrake at the Nurburgring show it in 'S' spec, the same as tested by PH earlier this year as a diesel saloon. Note the 20-inch wheels, red calipers, disguised 'S' badge on the grille and twin exhausts. From what can be seen here the rear lights appear very similar to the saloon, as per the last Sportbrake.
Where there's less certainty at the moment is exactly what the estate bit of the Sportbrake will look like. Right now it has a rather hearse-like appearance, which is at odds with the rather swoopy silhouette of the old one. We'll assume that's a clever disguise to keep the final look hidden until the very last moment. Fingers crossed at least...
The XF Sportbrake is likely to make its debut at some point in 2017; expect it to be offered with the same engine and spec options as the saloon with a slight price premium. Then it has to be time for the XF SVR, doesn't it chaps?
