bit of advice as to whether im being unreasonable, or if i should push this further

dropped my car off for its MOT this afternoon. failed on a couple of things, i'll fix them myself, not the issue

i paid for the MOT, got in my car and drove off. within 5 seconds of leaving i see a crack about 6 inches long on the bottom of the windscreen. the crack wasnt there when i dropped it off, and was not picked up on during the MOT. i turned around the talk to them about it, and was told it must have been a stone chip a while ago that just developed into a crack, not their fault. it happened whilst the car was in their care, and i was at home 2 miles away. he flat out refused to take any responsibility, no goodwill, just laughed and walked off (so either way, the owner is clearly a prick)

am i being unreasonable in wanting them to sort this for me?

Unless you can prove it happened there then your stuck
is the fact that it was not found during the MOT, yet found on collection, not enough proof that it happened whilst there?

what exactly is your issue here?
do you disagree that it's possible that the crack could have appeared through no fault of thier own?
or do you feel regardless how it happen they should be responsible because it was on thier care.

Personally i find it fairly unlikely that a crack could just appear, but not impossible, so it's a bit of an awkward situation all round.
my issue is that the car was in their care when the damage occured. it was not there before the MOT, but is after. its not cracked in the 2 years i owned the car, just the 2 hours they had it

i thought i might just have to suck it up. i dont trust the garage at all, and the owners attitude was awful. i'll have to get some petty revenge through negative reviews online and suffer the £155 loss (to add on to the £800 or so i've already spent on the car this month...)

jacking is unlikely to have done it, because i had it jacked on the driveway yesterday and it was on a 2 post ramp getting tyres fitted this morning

(i do wonder if the 2 post ramp caused the fuel leak approximately under the drivers seat that appeared especially for the MOT today...)
