What is the longest journey that one can make on UK motorways? A 'sensible' trip. No going round the M25 for the heck of it. Keep going in the same general direction.

I suggest from near Folkestone on the M20 to near Dunblane on the M9. I think it's about 508 miles

Sorry.

The first mile and the last 26 miles are not on motorway.

Exeter (start of M5), upto Bristol and the M4, across to London, around the M25 to the M1 upto Rugby and the start of the M6 all the way to Glasgow and then across to Edinburgh.

I'd have to look at a map to see what motorways spur off from Edinburgh, is there any A1(M) back towards Newcastle?
That isn't a 'sensible' route. Plus you leave motorway at a number of points.

How about: M20, M26, M25. Leave and go along the M4 towards Bristol. then NORTH on M5 to Birmingham, back south on M40 towards M25. Once back on M25 head clockwise to J21, take the M1 NORTH, join the M6 at the very start (J18??) to continue rest of the way.

Not a single piece of road used twice.
No sorry.

My thread. my rules - and I said:-

"A 'sensible' trip. No going round the M25 for the heck of it. Keep going in the same general direction".

843 miles from Exeter to Dunblane. I could do a full lap of the M25 to really pad it out but the Dartford crossing isn't motorway.
long drive
No 'fraid not.

At one point you are driving South for a significant distance.

626 miles or 611 miles without the glasgow loop, or 619 miles via liverpool rather than manchester.
Tsk. Tsk.

So, apart from driving due East to pick up the M25 (do what?)

Another bit near Manchester

And another bit by Glasgee.

I am terribly sorry, but I don't think you win the grand prize.

The person in the lead at the moment, is, let me see, scrabble through papers, ah yes, here we are, I have it.

At this precise moment in time the leader is da da........................., The Mad Monk. What a good bloke he is.
