Extremely disappointed in the new Renault Twingo GT. Yes it is not a full fat Renault Sport model but what has happened to Renault.

They were the manufacture to go to if you wanted a spot on hot hatch. Even their warm hatches were pretty good.

Now everything seems to be going in the wrong direction and going by the above test it is not getting any better frown

R.I.P Renault Sport???

It's not a full fat RS is it, merely a GT?

Either way, whilst it's hardly the last word in performance I bet it would be an absolute hoot to cane down a twisty back road as it's small, light and reasonably brisk - fun fun fun.
Not full fat but it is a Renault Sport car.

The full fat Clio is not exactly the car many hoped it would be.

What a crap title rofl

It's a GT, the old Twingo GT was a 1.2 turbo with 100bhp, this has 110bhp, and better spec. It's a better car all round than the old GT.
Hate to drive the old one.

The Twingo GT is the fastest and best-looking model in the range, but with a stiffer ride, a steeper asking price and very tame driving dynamics it struggles to make a strong case for itself.

Autoexpress are definitely the last word in car reviews.

Stiffer ride, yes, it's the GT model
Steeper asking price, yes, it's the top spec GT model
Tame driving dynamics, yes it's a 5 door hatch with a 0.9 turbo engine.

So go ahead, take their word for it, or you know, make your own mind up.
Evo?

To be fair to the OP. If we take the current RS Clio which at present I believe is the most up to date RS car in terms of when the chassis was developed then it's not really a great sign of what's to come. I really do hope it's just a blip in their otherwise glowing back catalogue. Although I read somewhere that the next RS megane will be getting the same pish gearbox.
Finally someone gets the point of the title.

It is not just about the Twingo GT. It is about Renault Sport helping out with the Twingo and not exactly doing a great job.

As far as the Clio and forthcoming Megane RS models it is looking like Renault have learned nothing regarding the issues with the Clio.

I concur that the new Alpine looks the part but time will tell if it hits the mark.
