Evening all,

I've got a private plate that I want to transfer to another car. Went to do it online but it says that I am unable to do it online and that I have to fill out a form and send in with the V5c. Fine. However the V5c has been filled in with the new owners details (family member). So is it best to;

1. Send in V5c and completed form?
2. Transfer to family member (money already paid) with private reg then can we retrospectively transfer private plate on to my new car (already purchased and have V5c) once he receives his new V5c?

Thank you in advance

Thank you. Fully trust the family member and he actually wants to change asap.

Just to be clear, to transfer my / the private plate to my new car it'll be a case of transferring it directly to it incuring one fee even though it's effectively owned by a different person now?

They now "own" the plate and it's a smoke transaction to register it to you, I believe it's part of the retention document. If I remember right the reverse of the document tells you exactly what to do.
But am I right in thinking that it'll just be one 'transaction' to put it on the van therefore only 1x charge?
