Evening,

So, just sat and watched my, now no longer mine, e60 BMW Individual 535d drive off with its new owner. Sold for £8k It had done 72,000 miles and was starting to show signs of old age and needing a bit of money spending on it - brake discs and pads, injectors, rocker gasket and had an intermittent gearbox issue. With all that said I've got some serious sellers remorse and wish I'd kept it.

This is made worse by it going to a family member that I see daily so it'll be in my view all the time (he is fully aware of faults and is over the moon with the sale - he's always loved the car since I bought it).

I've replaced it with an Mx-5 Mk2.5 - Executive, fast, lovely car to a unrefined go-kart.

How do move on from this divorce?! Anyone else been in this situation?

Just read that back and realised how it came across.

All consumables / easy fixes. As said he is fully aware of all issues as he often borrowed the car when I had it.

I really didn't want to sell it but I couldn't justify spending the fortune that I was spending running it.
Partly my reasoning for thinking about selling mine.

It wasn't exactly a cheap car to run especially knowing it's current requirements.
I rarely actually used it as I have a van and wife's car so the battery would get weak if not used for 3weeks or so.
With the new 5 series coming out it'll be 2 models behind and prices will start to take a hit.

The problem is, there are so many good cars out there and so little time to enjoy all of them.
Agree so much with this.

I love how this has become pictures of departing cars.

I know it's relative but I love how a Mk2.5 MX-5 can be described as an "unrefined go-kart". Mine's one of the most civilised cars I've owned smile
I guess it's all relative. In comparison to a 5 series that's exactly how it feels. That said having driven an elise 111S a few weeks ago the Mx5 is so much more refined.

I'm a caveman male, I fear I'll keep trying new, uummm, cars. Just don't tell my wife!

Problem is, I've tried / owned loads of cars, in and out of budget and I'm yet to find "that" car.

I do yoyo a lot. Last 6 cars have been; Octavia VRS estate - Boxster S - Warrior Pickup - S2000 - BMW 535d - Mx5. Notice a trend?!!

To cure the sellers remorse a little I've been buying things left right and centre for the Mx5.

I may have said, I had an Mx5 years ago. Hence wanting another.

Old Vs New

The sellers remorse is being made so much worse by seeing it every day and the new owner absolutely loving it.

New owner not getting on with it?
Loves it. Not able to pay full balance as per payment plan.
