Inherited cars ?
Discussion
Someone mentioned on another thread getting gifted an old Fiesta, I was given my grandads Metro and the kids used it to hammer round a field on my in laws farm, my father in law asked me to get shut to make space, so I stuck it on Retro Rides and it lived to fight another day in that it ended up MOT'd again.
I know a girl whose dad died, she had his manky Cortina and spend hundreds, if not thousands getting it bodged.
I know a chap who has loads of cars and bikes, has his dads old Golf GTI, never really uses it.
Anyone else inherited a car ?
It seems kind of a bit difficult as you feel like you should keep it, but might not want to, but you feel bad getting rid ?

My dad's mate died when I was 16 and left me his Rover 200. I drove it after passing my test until someone crashed into me and it was written off. There was nothing wrong with it apart from the deep smell of stale cigarettes (no prizes for guessing what killed the previous owner)

The shame
Worked out well for me! I had a job at a pub in the holidays and I told my dad that I was working late to save for a car, when I was just taking the cash in hand and spending it back in the pub and then stumbling home. Effectively working for beerBigMon said:
Last time I posted on a thread like this I got dogs abuse from, I assume, ex-Longbridge workers for having the temerity to have a pop at the car my Grandad left to me.
If any of the thin-skinned cocksockets are reading this and want to have another go then, please, just sod off.
Anyway! When my Grandad died in the early 90's he left me his 1985 1.3 Austin Maestro.
If was a lovely gift, but probably not the coolest car to be driving around in at 18 and (cure raging anger from ex-Longbridge workers) I'm afraid to say it was an utter POS of a car. Probably the worst one I've ever owned to be honest.
I had all manner of expensive problems with it and, in the end, crashed it into the back of a Fiat Panda whilst tuning the radio (sorry Grandad).
I sense much anger If any of the thin-skinned cocksockets are reading this and want to have another go then, please, just sod off.

I can't be bothered to search for the thread but the jist of it was I was an utterly ungrateful wker for having the temerity to point out that the Austin Maestro was an utter turd of a car.As it was left to me by my Grandad I should have loved and cherished the tailgate rusting through, gearbox whine, choke problem causing it to bunnyhop when trying to set off from junctions, etc, etc.
But nobody has to say you should like ancient BL tat.
My in laws had her dads Fiat 132, it was used as a family pool car, treated like crap despite only having 30k miles having lived an easy life on Jersey, it ran out of MOT and he was going to scrap it, I said I would buy it, did it up a bit, was going to run it but my MIL said she wanted it gone as it had been her fathers, she hadnt been bothered with it there for two years but that was her perogative, sold it at a good profit, quite a nice motor, 2 litre twin cam.
