Met Police invests in new chase car

Renault F1 lends its new multi-purpose vehicle

Spotted at this year's Regent Street Festival in central London -- the Met Police's latest pursuit car.

A police spokesman said: "We've invested in two of these new vehicles in order to ensure that any miscreants making off from a crime scene by car will be apprehended.

"There's only a few problems. Some of our officers might have problems fitting into the vehicle, it does take time to get comfortable, and there's nowhere to store your hi-vis jacket or a few cones. We've also asked if there's anything that can be done to reduce the noise.

"However, in this we can catch anything. The only real problem is that we don't dare switch it off while filling up at the local Tescos, since it takes three blokes and a load of kit to restart it.

"We've also been a bit overwhelmed by the number of trafpol officers coming forward to help us test this vehicle's handling and acceleration -- within the speed limit, of course.

"But it does mean we can now sell off the last of our Vauxhall Omegas."

Mind you, it'll not be going anywhere fast with its wheels off the ground...
