Nobody, has mentioned either the Renault 5 Raider or the Clio Williams!
Anybody got more info on that 340 Volvo at the beginning?
It was an "R-Sport" package that was Volvo's own factory approved tuning branch in the 80's. you used to get a brochure from your dealer and could have all manner of sporting bits fitted to your 300, 200 and 700 series volvo. That R-Sport 343 was one of only 100 made by Volvo (never sold in the UK)and has a 2.0litre volvo lump with with either 2 twin-choke webber 40's or the solex equivilant - I can't remember - they also ran a special interior, wheels, paint job, extra gauges, R-Sport steering wheel, sport exhaust, uprated anti rollbars and shocks etc.Anybody got more info on that 340 Volvo at the beginning?
When my mate used to work for Holden's in Norwich and they did R-Sport upgrades they also used to fit a dealer approved after market turbo kit to 240's as the factory 240 turbo was never made in RHD as the turbo compressor housing got in the way of the steering column the after market kit mounted it higher up although I have never seen one.
here's a vid of the 343 R-sport - Sounds the nuts:

The last real incarnation of the R-Sport brand was really the S60 R but they have diluted it so much now its called R-Design in the new ones. To me the ultimate R Volvo was the 850 T5-R made by TWR (see earlier in the thread)
Callaway did a twin turbo Conversion kit in the eighties for the GTV6 - Lary doesn't even come into it!:
Currently there is someone selling a complete callaway conversion kit on Ebay USA I believe
Website here for more info:

My Fiat Coupe LE (Limited Edition) is one of approx 1400 worldwide, with 3-400 in the UK. Once Fiat had sold the car the customer was contacted to get their chest size. They were then given a (admittedly horrible!) jacket in their size with the car's LE number in it, corresponding with the numbered plaque in the car. (Mine's number 0110).
Interestingly, the UK got the first of these cars. At the time, the upgrades were more than just cosmetc. It was given lovely red and black recaro seats, a push start button, a 6 speed box, a strut brace and also some minor external paint accents various pieces of bodywork and wheels.
The upgrades were deemed successful so the 'plus' model was then rolled out under the same specs but not numbered as Limited Editions.
That jacket is comedy - Nice ride though - I'm VERY partial to a warbling 5 cylinder lumpInterestingly, the UK got the first of these cars. Heh. what a great caption for a 4 door family saloon with a few go-faster bits strapped on
I'm sure they're a bit more than that...Weren't they 300bhp+ once Rouse Sport had got their hands on them?
The in-law's one was certainly dyno'd at around 330bhp anyway.

Haven't looked through every post on this thread, so forgive me if some are reposts.
BMW M8 - Abandoned project, 550bhp V12, there is only one that exists (existed, apparently its been scrapped) it was contained in BMW's Giftschrank translated as 'poison storage' under some boxes, no employs were ever allowed to see it by order of the management.
E39 M5 Touring - Only one built by BMW officially, it was for a senior member of the company before he moved on, there are a few imitations about.
E30 M3 Flat Bed Pickup - Built purely to carry big loads around the BMW HQ very fast.
M7 - Basically a 7 Series with an M5 engine, 6 speed gearbox etc etc...
They are all supposedly in the Giftschrank, who knows what else is in there.
Other cars:
Mk2 (Pre Facelift) Ford Granada 2.8i Sport - Uber rare, even moreso than the Mk2 2.8i and 2.8i Estate, had all the 2.8i kit like the uprated suspension, recaro's etc.. etc..
Mk2 Ford Granada 2.8i Ghia X Executive - Extremely rare a Ghia X with all the options and more!
Mk2 Ford Granada Sapphire - Not a Sapphire in the Sierra sense, just a nice paintjob and nice kit.
Morris Oxford (A60) Traveller - Supposedly theres only less than 20 left (over here in the UK at least) and my dads owned two, the first one got nicked and scrapped!
R32 Nissan Skyline N1 - 228 made, produced for 'N1' racing. The car was lightened by the removal of the ABS, air conditioning, sound system, rear wiper, trunk carpet, and the use of light-weight headlights. No color options were available and all 'N1' cars were delivered with a thin layer of Crystal White paint.
Theres plenty more i know but i can't really think of.
P.S: Look into the M8's story, its really interesting!
My mate Vic has a mint 2.8i Ghia X X-pack Executive - one of the only mk2 Grannies i've ever seen with full leather, trip computer, aircon and leccy everything - he paid mega bucks for it but it is mint - I'll try get some pics of it for the threadBMW M8 - Abandoned project, 550bhp V12, there is only one that exists (existed, apparently its been scrapped) it was contained in BMW's Giftschrank translated as 'poison storage' under some boxes, no employs were ever allowed to see it by order of the management.
