What is needed for an HPI check, is he trying it on?

Im in the process of selling a car at the moment and have just received an email asking me for:

vin\chassis number
current mileage
v5 serial number
v5 reg issue date

I thought the only thing needed to carry out an HPI check was the cars registration?

Could this be someone trying to clone my vehicle!?!!?
