W24 Engine... (Just an idea)

I was thinking about how Bugatti wielded together two V8's to make the Veyron, and then had an idea, if they really want to push a car to it's limits, why not wield together two V12's? It would be difficult to make a car wide enough, but if they attach them vertically, it could work. Imagine that, 10 billion horsepower and 2,000 mph. Does anyone else think this could work, or am I dreaming?

Apart from the fact that Jeremy Clarkson said,
"They wielded together two V8's to make a W16,"
I don't know where I got that idea from.
I don't mean to literally wield them together, just have them working in unison.
