Revealed: Morgan Eva GT

Tech specs and images of Morgan's new coupe

Morgan has finally revealed full technical details and 'proper' images of its new Eva GT super-coupe - even as the car itself is on display at the Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance in California.

The Eva GT uses the same bonded aluminium chassis technology that underpins the Morgan Aeromax. The swoopy Eva will be more spacious than other recent Morgans, however, and will be a pukka 2+2 with space (claims Morgan) for four adults. Its rear hatch also opens to a large boot.

But that's not the interesting bit - because up front there's a twin-turbo 3.0-litre BMW straight six with 302bhp, connected to a six-speed manual or automatic gearbox that drives the rear wheels.

Morgan reckons that the 1250kg car - which has spent three years under development using BMW facilities for high speed testing and hot weather sign-off - will be good for 4.5secs 0-62mph, with a top speed of 170mph, and fuel consumption of 40mpg.

Morgan Motor Company is taking orders now - provided you can stump up £5000 as a deposit to ensure an early build slot - and the first 100 cars should hit the Morgan production line sometime in mid-2012.

yes

Beautiful car, and a very individual alternative to the Astons, Bentleys and 911s that have become de-rigeur in that segment. (Yes, I know it's down on power, but some people would prefer the individuality and style...and let's be honest, 237bhp/tonne is still VERY healthy!)

If that 40 mpg figure isn't under unrealistic driving conditions then some large companies have a lot of catching up/explaining to do! Stunning effort! thumbup
That'll be a combination of:-
- Low frontal area
- Low Cd (I'm assuming, but then most modern cars have this)
- Light weight
- The BMW engine being tuned to pass the EU tests better than many competitors.

...so while I wouldn't expect to get that in the real-world, I'd say 30+mpg won't be unrealistic.
Wtf do all you people do with your right feet that means you fall under rather than actually surpass the mpg figures? If they reckon 40mpg, I would expect to hit about 42 or 43mpg.

Im glad Im not the only one wondering who he thought these "shareholders" were! Given who they in fact are, I rather suspect they are feeling pretty bloody pleased with themselves right about now!

That will be the 8th one so far on this thread. smile
Indeed. Never seen a thread on PH like this before. Bravo to all the pioneers I say.

I'll have £20 on the fact that only two people who have posted this actually take delivery...
That is probably a good bet. No doubt some will go the speculator route. No doubt some will have a rethink due to personal circumstances. No doubt some will have a rethink as something else stunning appears or something previously thought unattainable comes up. In my own case its absolutely no secret about my interest in the Evora S and Loon has been tapping me up in private to get me in one for sometime now, or that Im a longtime Lancia nut and now the Stratos has appeared more of the less day as the EVA. No doubt others may rethink as things may change about the car and they dont like those changes.

All of the above are reasonable, yet you somehow appear to have been cynical and sceptical, but Im not sure what about or in what context?

As to the other poster about having never seen a thread like this on PH before, it was very similar with the Sagaris. Again, another emotional one!

P.S. Matt if you see this, dont breathe a *fking* word to your missus!

good on Morgan , a great effort.
lets hope its not a limited edition .

a question for those puttung deposits down... are you using the dealer network or factory ?

a question for someone with inside information... how many orders placed so far ?
What on earth do you mean by limited edition? How many do you think they will be producing? What do you think the current Morgan business model is?

Indeed Tony. A limited run and standard production run in Morgan terms is usually only a difference of a 100 units or so.

All of which helps residuals of all the motors.
