83600 HPI Car Check - car came up recovered

so, i've finally decided, i think, on a car. thought i'd be a bit pikey and do one of these cheapo text checks to see if it's been stolen, pranged etc.

the first text came back looking good:

Bmw 328i 2.8
VIN***6707 Sep 99
2 owners
No colour changes
No stolen record
Not scrapped

so i thought, that's good, then a second one came through reading:

• * is a recovered vehicle.

Loss date 04-11-2006.

hm. the fact it's been mot'd I assume it can't have been a total write off, but would this mean that this car is a cat C/D? and would i find this out of i did a proper £15-20 check?

hadn't thought of that, so if a car is stolen, and not even scratched it still goes down as a cat D?

also, as i read on the driftworks forum he was willing to px for an mx5 again, which is great as i'm looking to sell mine
