Police driver training school cars and top brass motors are the better bet.
Funny you should say that there are a few driving training cars on at the moment (don't have calibrated speedos)

do traffic cars get tunned up remaped whatever a traffic cop once told me that his unmarked 3 series 330 i think was had no prob staying with the scoobys and evos in a chase around town

No they don't. Mods are usually limited to suspension and electrics and sometimes brakes.
Most of the Police cars are fast enough not to need remapping etc the current 330d's being a case in point yes

Indeed this is the best location for buying an ex Police car the auction today wasn't as good as expected most cars made to much moneygetmecoat (The Ford S-max looks quite tidy+ with Turbo 5 cyl lump to boot)

Dyfed Powys police 57 plate 530D could be a winner at 62k miles.

Anyone near by fancy reporting back?
The beemers seem to make stupid money wonder is DPP are getting rid of the 5 series then the same as SWales

That would be more like it. I was still with South Wales then and DPP were still buying Volvos and not BMW.
Yeah all the patrol cars I've seen down that way are V70's

Most of this thread seems to be thinking more about the bigger police vehicles, traffic cars and such. But what about the smaller liaison / support staff cars? I looked at a an ex-Met Skoda Fabia estate yesterday that drives fine, above average miles for the year (80,000 on a 54-plate) but it's cheap and doesn't have many holes in it (just a couple inside the glovebox), and good bodywork. Nice spec too. Full history printout obviously, and though 80,000 miles around London puts me off slightly, it's for the wife so is going to have a pretty gentle life from now on. Would you?
Also a lot of the ex M.O.D (government) cars are well worth a look most up in the miles but all well looked after and have serv printout
