What is going on with new car lead times?! My lease car goes back in June, I want to opt out of the ocmpany car scheme this time so i've been looking around. I've decided I want a Skoda Superb, today I've been quoted 6 months for a new one, if I'm lucky! How on earth can it take 6 months to build a mid range mid power diesel?

I'm looking at having to hire a car for at least 2 months if I stick with skoda and I assume the times on VW's are of similar lenght as they share most bits?!

How many people are willing to wait 6 months for a car? I thought I was leaving loads of time but aparantly not!

Which dealer was that Mike? I'd be keen to find a dealer willing to do some work to secure a sale, rarther than just sitting there not offering a discount and not willing to help!

Thanks

I have run the numbers and taking the cash option works out slightly cheaper over the 4 year life of the car than getting a company car. Even budgeting for a full set of tyres a year!
Work still insure the car so that's a huge saving!
I wouldn't mind so much but at the dealer yesterday they told me the demo car is for sale, but the finance rates on used cars are no where near as good as for new ones. So buying the demo would cost about 50quid more a month!
Even bigger pain is I cant make some money with bangernomics as my company specify loads of things including a max age of 5years frown
I am very tempted to nominate my wifes car and not have anything while the skoda gets built!
Just got to remember as well as the money saving I'm gettin rid of the crap lease company we have to deal with!

one moment of hassle could negate that small saving and 4 years is a long time - who has liability for the finance if the company goes pop or makes you redundant for instance?
I don't think the company will go pop (one of the biggest multi national companies in the world!) But yes I see your point, and that is one thing pushing me towards leasing. The other is its the companies responsibility to provide a car until the new one shows up!

Chances are they will extend the lease on my current car which wouldn't be the end of the world really.

I needed up ordering a new Passat, I was quoted 12 weeks rather than the 25weeks by skoda, this pushed me to the VW.
Just got a stock date of 24th May. So delivery will be 10-12 weeks after I ordered.
I'm opening a book on when it will actually be on my drive... Place your bets!

What have you ordered? A guy here has been waiting since September for his golf estate, due to turn up in the next week or 2.

Sorry to bring up an old topic.
My Passat ordered 7th March, due for delivary next week... Has just been pushed to the end of June/early july. Due to a shortage of DAB radios!
