Travel help - M1 to North (of) London then train into London

Hi

On Friday I'm meeting friends in the Paddington area, but I'll be coming down the M1, I want to park my car outside London somewhere safe and then get train or tube(?) to the Paddington/Bayswater area.

I'm thinking Watford or Hemel Hempstead but is there anywhere else suitable with good parking and frequent fast trains into London?

Thanks Doug. I was thinking traffic and parking would be a nightmare as I got nearer Paddington. I guess I don't have meters and congestion charge to worry about after 6:30pm do I?
