I will be calling the RAC in the morning as I missed them today but was thinking there could be some experience on here..?

I have the RAC Gold Warranty that came with my car when I purchased it last month.
I have a central locking fault now. I was going to rip in to the door and find the fault but remembered the warranty.

I think from reading the small print I have to do the following:
Call an approved garage (National Service Network), get them to diagnose the fault.
Call the RAC (warranty provider) and get their permission.
Get the garage to call the RAC
Then they will (if approved) fix the fault.

It also says: won't pay for diagnostics.....

Any experience...?

I also would not normally bother with a Warranty..

I have booked the E46 in with a local garage.
RAC say that they will pay up to £40 p/h labour. The garage need to diagnose the fault, call the RAC and then they will advise if it is covered.
If it is covered, they pay all costs.
If it is not covered - I gat the bill...

We will see...

Used them for a corsa with HGF

They recommended a Nationwide chain of Autocentres that massively overcharged for the work (causing me to go way over the £500 excess) and totally bodged the job.

Ultimately they paid to put it right at another garage, but the hassle was not worth it really.

If you have to use them - DO NOT use any of their recommended chain garages. You will end up paying towards the warranty, but it will be worth it in the long run.
They said I can use any VAT registered garage. I'm using a local BMW one.

Turns out it was just dirty and sticking. The BMW guy couldn't find a fault.
Warranty people therefore were not interested and I paid £45

Yer, my RAC Warranty came with the car from the dealer but I wouldn't pay for it myself.
