I'm trying to oder a new car at the moment and Mercedes/BMW/Audi are all giving delivery times of "at least 6 months", stating that manufacturing is slowed due to delays in obtaining components from Japan - post tsunami.

Anyone else had this issue?

I believe that you are currently not able to order a Mercedes with the basic radio package due to this. You can order with Comand (SatNav), but they are making people pay for it...
This is exactly what I was told as well. But they were doing a deal on the Command Sat Nav.

Yet I asked a PHer who lives in France and delivery delays are long there too.
I posted the original question... and live in France. It's seem to be 6 months minimum delay everywhere in the world.

I sat with the Mercedes local dealer as he opened up the French build pipeline on his PC. Every car for the next 5 months was allocated to a customer. What happened to the good old days when dealers were pre-ordering popular spec cars like crazy to hit their incentives? Seems to have gone.

Re. OP: just pay more to jump to queue or buy 'nearly new'?
I'm a 'user chooser' as it will be a company car purchased by a 3rd party leasing company, so not possible unfortunately.
Are there any brands without massive delays when buying new?
