997.1 exclusive option CES "music player interface for iPod"

Just perusing the Exclusive 911 brochure for my car and noticed this.

Never knew this was possible on the 997.1 with PCM2.1, which is why I just shelled out £895 for a Mobridge solution.

Anyone heard of this option and know how it integrates?

Although not sure about your installation time, I watched 2 experienced guys take 1.5 hours to remove a parrot and replace and test the Mobridge. No cups if tea consumed either.

True but I don't have one, and don't intend to buy one as my turbo has the Mezger GT1 engine - will stick the cash into a slush fund instead.

The Mobridge adds bluetooth, and handsfree is a legal requirement in UK if you want to use a phone, so in my view the Porsche policy is OTT and dangerous.

I am sure their warranty terms win in a legal situation, although if your engine went pop I question from a customer service / reputation / PR perpsective they would deny a claim. You can imagine the headline:

"Porsche renege on warranty for £20k engine because loyal owner fitted BT so he could comply with UK law and drive dangerously"

yep - I have a 3rd party warranty for first year, will see how that goes before deciding on year after.

It plays back just fine, no radio interference issues at all - including north and central London where I'm based.

Caveats are no charging for iPhone 5 and you can't control from the PCM.
But, if like me you just want to hear some music it works very well, plus no issues with the car's warranty.

Did you spec the car from new? Just wondering what thsi option cost if you don;t mind me asking
