I've finally bit the bullet and taken delivery of my very first Porsche.
December 2008 basalt black C2 with approx 57000 on the clock.
It's surprising how much contrary advice I received prior to this purchase regarding private versus dealer purchases, servicing, types of tires, super unleaded versus normal unleaded, targeting of speeding tickets, etc etc etc.
Anyway, on balance I finally purchased the car from a dealer in Wilmslow :-) complete with 2 year Porsche warrantly and the car fully prepped, and, well, looking and driving like a dream. The Porsche warrantly seemed like a 'no brainer' to me, despite the perhaps 6k premium on the 'private' price.

I do have a private garage that can carry out work to 'Porsche specifications', but would you do this, or only use a dealer, or a mixture of both?. Would you have the dealer do the servicing, but use private to replace brake pads etc?

I also hear that N rated tires are a legal/insurance/warrantly requirement, but I also hear this is nonsence and the tires only have to be road legal.

What is the procedure if you have a puncture? The dealer mentioned the emergency foam under the bonnnet, but has anyone actually used this?

I have to say that I now understand what people are talking about when they mention how a car makes you feel. It's an absolute pleasure to drive, and I get excited thinking about taking off the cover and going for a drive. I surprised myself in not actually wanting to drive it that fast, just love the handling and the acceleration.

Thanks for listening to my rambling, it's just been quite a good week! :-)

I'll get some. The iPhone pics have the reg on them and I'd rather cover them up. Didn't realise if was a rarer model.

Basalt black apparently. Quite a nice subtle 'speckled' finish to it. It looks blue in one photo due to reflection of the sky I think.
