991 , 911 Tracking Issue - anyone else experienced this ?
Discussion
Anyone else had this issue : Driving my 991 C2S Cab. at 70 (ish) in dry warm conditions on a good road ; the car starts to pull strongly to the left - have to forcibly add and hold opposite lock to keep in a straight line - after a good few seconds or so the car then "snaps" back to normal and then a minute or so later does it again : Intermittent issue - but quite scary when it happens - feels most odd - I assume it's a tracking issue but the strength of the "pull" followed by the "snapping" realignment makes it feel unlike one that I've ever experienced before - well I say that , but it has also happened on another occasion in an identical loan car. I have had my car for 18 months and this issue happened yesterday - fine before that ? Answers on a postcard please

There was a thread on 911uk.com about some 991s experiencing electric steering problems, symptom was violent pull to one side
Found the thread

Have you changed a tyre recently? I had exactly the same problem and eventually worked out that kwik fit had fitted an Aston Martin Pirelli pzero instead of a Porsche one - you can see the AM in small letters on the tyre wall.
Kwik fit made a fuss about changing it, first saying that I'd ordered the wrong tyre - I went through the booking system and it still came up with the wrong tyre. They then claimed it was an identical tyre anyway and won't make a difference but I forced them to change it and all back to normal, I also realised how poorly it'd been handling. Kwik fit need to sort this as I'm sure they've fitted lots of AM tyres onto the 991 by now.
Thanks for this , very strange though as I thought " you can't get better than a quick fit fitter " however , I'm still running the original tyres , done less than 10,000 miles - treads worn from new , but perfectly legal Kwik fit made a fuss about changing it, first saying that I'd ordered the wrong tyre - I went through the booking system and it still came up with the wrong tyre. I'm not familiar with the spec of a 991 but I have had cars with "lane assist" systems, where the steering wheel moves to alert you when it assumes you're falling asleep or just not paying attention to where you're going - a 635d just waggled the wheel a bit, whereas a Lexus LS460 gave a sudden jerk, which was rather disconcerting when it first happened (I was neither dozing nor inattentive at the time ).
If your car has such a feature then it could be that kicking in (perhaps when it shouldn't)?
Thanks for this - nice thought , but the car doesn't have this feature If your car has such a feature then it could be that kicking in (perhaps when it shouldn't)?
