Just found this write up on the RAC page of all places... a bit out of date on prices but who cares. It's the concluding paragraph that made me chuckle.

Respect to the RAC for not taking the dry and dusty line.

It's interesting about prices. I only found this article after searching the purchase price of my GT3 in 2003.
Its probably been written about elsewhere, but I wonder if anyone has worked out which cars have overtaken their purchase price and rated them in order of how quickly they did it. Of course cars some shoot up before they even leave the showroom, but to compare regular "classics" like the GT3's, Ferrari 355s etc would be interesting.

Meaningless indeed. The best car ever for me is the one that gives me the best driving experience at any given time. My recent trip back from northern Norway tracking the west coast in a fast moving convoy of 944's will stand out in my memory and be talked about with my co drivers for the rest of my life. My GT3 would have been great too. But in that moment we were all being just blown away by the handling of these underrated cars and having a ball of a 6k mile road trip.
