Thoughts on 64 plate GTR with 4.5k miles against 2011 997 Turbo S with 15-20k miles? Obviously the Porsche is more expensive, has a much nicer interior, is smaller/more nimble and is probably a more comfortable daily when you take into consideration ride compliance and luxury of interior. BUT on the flip side the GTR would be 3.5 years newer and 15-20k cheaper. Performance I'm guessing would be pretty similar or would it? I know I have posted on a Porsche forum so may get biased responses. Residuals on a 997 Turbo S at 80k???

Actually quite torn about it. 997 TTS a better looking car even though it's previous generation? Although in some ways the Nissan has a brutish, muscular look that seems to turn heads?

I have been searching for the perfect daily driver for a while now (maybe there isn't such a thing?). I live in London but do a couple of Euro trips, car meets etc. where I get to enjoy a car. I want something very fast but at the same time comfortable but still needs to behave like a sports car so not interested in cars like AMG Mercs, Bentleys etc. At the same time I don't have an unlimited budget. The GTR and Turbo S both stand out as with their massive torque in a turbocharged car they are effortless to drive day to day. At the same time once you get on a decent road they are also fun and very fast. Ride compliance is important but not Bentley/Merc style but acceptable enough to not annoy me daily. My 991 50th was great as a DD but ultimately for me it lacked power and the lack of torque comparatively doesn't suit what I want from a daily. So my conclusion was the GTR or Turbo S. The 991 TTS is a bit high price wise at the moment so hence the 997 TTS against the GTR.

Can't wait now. Picking up next Saturday. For those interested am picking up the GT Silver car from the classifieds with 20k miles. Has a really nice spec. Have owned 2 Porsches before and every time I sell them for something else I keep coming back to them.

Nothing bad to say about the GTR, I have owned 2 before. Epic car. For me the 997 TTS suits me better and is my preference.

Picked it up yesterday.

Tell us about the 500E !!! Built by Porsche...
Brilliant car. Has totally surprised me as to how good it is. It has very low miles, lovely condition and all the interior bits etc. are so fresh considering it's 20 years old. Must have been so ahead of it's time when it was released. Sure fire classic in my opinion.

The ex Bramley 20k miler? Amazing cars and yes a sure fire classic.
No, not ex Bramley. It has 43k miles so not as low as the Bramley one.

Very few decent ones come in for sale. A lot of them are either very high miles or need a lot of work to get up to scratch.

Do all of them only have two seats at the back?
Good point. No idea actually. Kids love sitting in the back, very comfortable with a nice big armrest. smile

For those of you interested in the 500E see the thread I put in the Mercedes forum a few days ago.
