Hi guys and gals, I wonder if any of you can help me with the valuation of a car.
A friend of mine has a 996 TT that I'm tempted to buy but being a git he won't give me a price, only saying 'make me an offer!' (In all seriousness he doesn't need to or really want to sell it, which is why he's not forthcoming with a price.)
It's silver with blue leather (not high backs) manual, I believe it's an '02 but need to confirm as it's got his private plate on. It's done 30k miles and he's had it from a few months old. It has 675bhp, monster brembo's all round, 19" gen2 997 turbo wheels to fit over the brakes and Bilstein coilovers. He also has everything to revert back to standard. It is absolutely mint and I really do mean mint. I wasn't really looking for another 996 but I've always loved this car.
So what are your thoughts?

Cheers

Cheers for the reply, that's pretty much the figures I had in mind.
Seems crazy they are so close to 997 TT prices....that is my conundrum!

Am I better off buying a standard one from a long term residuals perspective? I can't get my head round 996/997 price differences. Surely 996 should be a lot cheaper than 997!

I'll try and get some pics and upload. I hate the wheels to be honest but standard wheels don't fit over the brakes. Speaking to him today I think he's going to want top money to be convinced of selling it. He doesn't need the money or the space and as he put it 'Me and that car have been through some good years!'
I've enquired about the blue one at GP cars as it seems relatively good value but I just feel it's been 'chavved' a bit which puts me off. The lack of bonnet and boot badging always makes me wary.
Maybe a 997 is the way forward for me. If a V8 Vantage had more power I think I'd have bought one of those by now!

Cheers again guys

675bhp is highly modified. Of it isn't then he is lying about the power output.

Minimum:

New turbos, billet or bigger
Headers if not standard fit turbos
Well fettled Map/standalone. At that power I put a syvecs on as the PSM can't cope with the torque and shuts power
Intercoolers
Injectors, I also had a GT2 fuel pump
Pipes to turbo, standard are a big restriction
Filter
Clutch, exhaust etc..
It is extensively modified and it definitely makes the power. The brakes, suspension and wheels were £19k alone. The engine work I don't know how much, but I know it wasn't cheap. It also wasn't just a chip or bolt on goodies! It actually made 678bhp on the dynosmile

He won't give a price that's my point. He doesn't really want to sell and has simply said 'if I'm serious make me an offer' Hence why I started the thread. I need to find out full spec, all I know is it has (as already stated) monster brembo's all round, Bilstein adjustable coilovers and gen 2 997 turbo 19" wheels. All fitted price including full geo 50 miles ago. He barely uses it and has many more expensive toys but doesn't need or really want to sell it. I'm more interested in buying than he is selling. To be honest I've now started looking at 997 TT's as from conversations with him recently I get the feeling 45-50k may not buy it!

Thanks for all the help and advice guys. My mate won't sell his 996 TT now it's come to the crunch (not for a price I'd be happy to pay anyway!) I've actually looked at two 996TT's and one 997TT all of which were decidedly ropey. This in itself has put me off a lot. I've previously owned a 996 Carrera and GT3 and they were like new compared to these cars I recently viewed. For this reason I'm now looking at Aston's as it's a car I've never owned and really fancy one now.

Cheers again smile
