I'm considering one of these for my 997.1 which has PSE. I don't particularly like the way it cuts out between around 30-50mph. I have been doing loads of research and the simple option that seems very popular is to pull out the connector from the vacuum actuator, which results in "loud" sound permanently, including at 30-50mph, but also rendering the dashboard switch inoperative. Unfortunately that is not really an option for me as I often leave for work at 0300, in the dead of the night. I don't think the neighbours would appreciate my PSE as much as I do! Plus I'd probably wake up the whole house due to the garage being built into the house and directly below the master bedroom!! My wife loves Porsches but I don't think even she would appreciate the early morning wake up. (When we had a Cayman, on my days off when I had a lie in, and she used the Cayman, I never minded hearing the roar of the Cayman firing up just below me, those first 20-30 seconds from cold were just awesome).

So I could still do with some kind of switching, which is what this Carnewal kit seems to offer...

They also do a remote control kit but it's nearly 3 times the price and I'd be more than happy with a switch somewhere in the cabin.

Has anyone had any experience of fitting or using either of these kits?

Thanks, Phil

Fitted this and does what it says on the tin.

10 minute job and gives the option to switch on or off the valves at a press of the button.

Fitting a Sharkwerks Exhaust Bypass is the next job.

Thanks, but I'm a little confused. Do you know the difference/benefit over the switch kit that I put a link to? I see there's also a similar switch kit with a remote control, but still different to the one in your link???

OP! Your link includes the vacuum gear that you already have. You just need the remote kit as the other guy linked, to better control yours.
Thank you. I'll order that soon.

The remote kit is 175 Euro, as per link above. The kit looks nice and comes with fitting instructions. Just needs plugging in and earthing somewhere. I haven't fitted it as I'm not convinced the Gen 2 has the speed cutout.
Just read this on another forum....

There is no cut-off (i.e. valves closing) on the 997.2 PSE. Porsche added a third silencer (a.k.a. center silencer) which keeps the noise level within regulations all the time and eliminated the need for a cut-off. Hence the quieter sound from the 997.2 compared to the 997.1.

this one - with the remote - with shipping it cost about £150... more than worth it to get rid of the noise cutout!
Nice one, thanks.

Got our 997 today and fitted the PSE Remote this evening. Piece of cake. It is brilliant!! I thought the standard PSE was good but it's like having a new exhaust now, very impressed.
Thanks all for your help.

It really is an easy job. I'm definitely no mechanic but I found it straightforward. The trickiest part for me was the bit at the top of the photo that says "plug into original connector" - with this you have to insert the red wire into the black plastic plug, which is a little awkward as it needs to go in all the way to be able to make the connection, I used a small screwdriver to "lever" it in all the way and it worked fine.
The earth wire is easy, just use any non painted screw or bolt in the vicinity. I used one of the lid hinge screws, I just shined it up a bit with a little sandpaper.

It is the first "modification" I have done and I am really pleased with how it works and what a massive difference it makes. It is also very easily reversible, if I ever needed to do that, which I doubt!
