For you guys thinking of running a 997 cup at track days. This is some in car footage from an Excellent Gold track day on Monday. The car is running Old Pirellis to keep the ultimate pace down. An idea of the speeds and fun achievable for nowhere near the cost of a GT4 let alone a 991 GT3.

Saving the engine and tyres Old Thing. No naughtiness - all on exit.

It would be a lot quicker on Michelins. After a few cycles the Pirellis have so little grip that you need to short shift on exit.

997.1 is about 1180kg and 415 bhp. These days it's a little light in power but quite enough to provide decent fun. Not road legal but pretty practical to run. No more expensive than a GT3/4.

Nice Old bus. This is the view of a 997.1 from the driver's perspective (I have the same steering wheel logo on every race car that I drive by the way).

Yep. You need to heal toe to change down. Flat upshifts. There are rev matching devices available and a paddle shift system that can be retro fitted for about £5K
