997 turbo high revs on start up

Hi all,

Quick question my car has started to go up to 3K rpm when first started in the mornings, been doing this for a few days the car is booked in to be looked at but I need to start and use the car until then.

What I want to know is does a high rev like this constituent to engine damage and or register as over revs?

Thanks for the reply, issue is if my car now has registers revs in ranges 5 & 6 because of this fault it's gonna be hard to sell the car at some point and also as you mentioned to get a warranty, is there anyway that the false rev range recordings can be excluded. This is a bit of a joke TBH and I would have expected better quality from such a 'high end' firm.

They are doing it as warranty fix as it did the high rev thing whist they had the car, so they know about the issue. It's the recorded false rev range info that's bothering me as I don't want to be lumbered with unsellable car.
