Thanks for all your tips and eagle-eyed spots, but I'm going to wait a few months. With the announcements in Autocar and Evo that the 991.2 GT3 will be available with a manual 6-speed, I'm going to gamble on a slight market correction and the possibility of a 997.1 falling down through my £70k budget threshold by the summer...

Good luck with that strategy. Are you also hoping it comes fitted with a Mezger, Hydraulic steering, cable handbrake, no RWS, limited digital interference... as it is more than just a stick shift that draws people to the 997.I fully understand your point (and I drive a 997.2 non-GT for 4/5 reasons you gave) but my gamble is based on the speculative, flipper "cats" getting distracted by the latest thing and allowing us "mice" to play again.
