Spoke to OPC and I could have their first car as they haven't had their allocation yet. Carmine red and black wheels may be added and I agree re the interior so may change that.

Anyone else going for one?

If I were to use Porsche finance could I expect a discount or a few free extras?

My issue is that you can pick up a 997.2 gt3 for 75k. And that one won't depreciate.
I take your point but I'm not buying the car as an investment. ....

The GTS is a very different proposition. It is simply an S with a body kit and lots of options. A bloody good car but not a direct competitor to an 997 GT3 or even a Cayman R (although more so the latter).

I agree that's exactly why I like it. The Cayman is a stunning car in whichever guise and this one is a bit different in a way that suits me.

Let's face it all Porsche cars are brilliant in their own way and that also depends on our personal preferences and needs. Having had a Cayman for the weekend it is the perfect Porsche for me. I've always loved the GT 3 but they just don't suit my requirements even though I have three cars and. Motor bike

Sold my C4S to the first person who came to look at it, a nice family who has bought a really nice car.

I've had another go at sorting a spec for the new Cayman - thoughts....

V12 Wollie expresses my thoughts as to why I am happy to spend my money on a CGTS. I love the 997GT3 but it's not for the wife and me for obvious reasons in the above replies. The odd second or whatever, in the real world I drive in, makes no difference to me. I'm not interested in that.

We all have different priorities and the CGTS fits the bill for me....

Woollie

Love your spec.

I've left the exterior black bits black as for me they complement the front and rear trays.

The GTS interior package looks very nice but just a step to fars for me money wise.

Not sure I would need the PTV though I need to look at that as I believed it was more for the track than road? ( I might be talking b*%**ks but that's how I currently understand it).

The lighting design package looks good but having had it on my BMW Touring I know after a sort time you don't even notice it, so I save some money there.

I included the park assist camera as I am used to this on my other cars and do find it very useful as I do the cruise control.

My two main areas I am not sure about are 1 the exterior colour Carmine red is my choice to date but I also like Guards red and that would save me a few ££££s. We will choose when we've seen a Carmine red car.

2 the Sports or Multifunction streering wheels. My heart says sports with paddles but we still have to properly decide.

When is yours due? I've been told June 2014 but who knows......

Went an saw a Carmine red GTS Cayenne today. A lovely colour but I'm going to save £1600 as I prefer Guards red. I was surprised the Carmine is a flat colour and can't fathom how it can be worth the extra money?

The car also had the gloss black wheels. They looked fantastic but already have the odd chips in the enamel which makes them a no for me also.

So Guards Red with Satin wheels for me.

I had gloss black wheels on my Spyder and they were chipped to buggery in no time at all.
Now done in satin platinum and as good as the day they were done 6 months ago.
Thanks Zyp that's confirmed it for me beer

The Cayenne I saw was only a few months old and you could clearly see the odd chips. As I intend to keep my car a good while I'm going to pass on the gloss wheels though I must say they do look good....

Just had a call from my OPC offering me a June car YES...

Apparently once the final spec is locked down it takes approx 10 days for the car to arrive.

This would have been their demo vehicle but it's mine if I want it.. Guess what I said...

Off to see them with the family tomorrow night to sort out the spec..

Will let you know how we get on..

Hey Budweiser, good to hear you've been offered a June build. I'm hoping for the same as I want to take the car to the Italian lakes in the summer.

I have been talking to Guildford and East London and have been reassured I am top of the queue for both dealers. I'm hedging my bets to see who can get me a car soonest and order with them.

Didn't hear from either of them today however as they were expecting to know their allocation later on this week. May i ask which dealer you are speaking with?

I am going for a Black/Agate Grey, Carrera S Classics, Manual, Bose, Heated Seats, 18-way adaptive seats. If i go Agate grey i may go for the Platinum satin's as they look fantastic but I dont think they would go with a Black Cayman.
I've asked if they can changing the badging on the back of the car from black to chrome so it will show on a black car! it's the little things that matter!
OPC Colchester, Richard Denne 01206 855500 really helpful....

We all went to the new OPC Colchester showroom specification suit to finalise our order which should arrive in June.

We had an amazing time picking all the options from those available and after much deliberation settled for those shown:

http://www.porsche-code.com/PFSLJ3N8

It's so easy to tick boxes and we had to show a little restraint (sort of).

Anyway it was a great experience which we all, as a family, enjoyed.

Our thanks to Richard and and everyone who contributed to our fun.

All comments welcome but please be gentle....

Have you considered the 'Carmine Red'? It looks great in the picture and is a very classy colour, really suiting the GTS.
Having seen the colour on a GTS Cayenne we decided, after much soul searching, we preferred the Guards Red. Whilst that saved us £1600 (nice) it wasn't the money just a genuine like of Guards. It is a stunning colour and I'm sure a lot of buyers will choose it..
