I have never been a Porsche fan as always bought sports cars made in Britain.

I was seriously looking at the Lotus Exige roadster but having had a Lotus Elise it was still too Spartan.

So I placed a deposit on a Boxster GTS manual back in March and picked up last Friday and it was going to be love or hate.

All I can say is what a car, two days in and 200 miles later still getting to know the car.

The dealer experience however was nothing short of appalling; I experienced delays in picking the car up with reasons that the transporter was not full, and then the transporter had broken down.

Repeated calls to the dealer I was informed that it could be another week and at this point I wanted to cancel the order so a call to Porsche UK and the car was delivered two days later.

Handover consisted in signing the paperwork, the salesman driving the car out of the showroom and passing me the keys I asked a simple question relating to the emergency key and was informed that there was no such key so the salesman’s knowledge of a Boxster was zero maybe he was the cleaner in a suit as it was 17:45 on a Friday so he probably wanted to go home!!.

No flowers for the other half, no whisky for me and just a clear pocket file for the sale documents maybe after my previous Aston experience I was expecting too much.

So a letter will be going in to Porsche UK and the dealer principle to highlight my concerns and the car will be going to another dealer for all servicing or warranty claims (hopefully none).

On a positive note I have definitely made the right decision, in sports plus changing down I will never get tired on the blip on the throttle and when I can I will place some photos on PH,
