So, who has put a deposit down?

Got mine in today. Been on the German Porsche site to run through a configuration or two, cant understand a word of it. I think the UK one is up now though.

What spec is everyone going for?

Funny, I wouldn't have touched it with a PDK box. Each to their own.

I doubt we will see a PDK in the GT4. They've gone out of their way to stick a manual in it to add another differential to the GT3.

I've been through it again and dumped the sport chrono plus some other bits. As with many options on cars the clubsport package is over priced but, I'll be having it on mine.

I agree - there different cars - the 997 gt3 is super special in its own way - plus any GT car is only as fast as the driver - but as long as it makes you smile everytime that's all that matters!
GT4 - I have one coming and have just been on the Porsche build your car website.I am really surprised / concerned that such a focused car does not offer a hydraulic lifter like on the Gt3??
I intend to go to Europe to enjoy it in the alps and maybe a trackday - have you seen the ramp onto a ferry - not a chance? I will need to check the wheelbase / wheel positions?
Anyone got an idea how many will come to Uk?
I did Europe in my 458 Spider last year. 8 countries in 10 days including loads of passes, some big, some very tight. I didnt bother speccing the lifter on that and didnt have any issues at all, including the ferries. Dunno if its as low as the GT4 will be though.

The 458 has quite noticeably more clearance than a GT4. As you'll see on the GTS thread, a GTS with SS already gives significant problems with speed humps and the like. (Even my own S with PASM which is 20mm higher than a GT4 and has a much shorter and higher nose, grounds on occasion - I couldn't get out of my drive with a GT4 - and few would argue that my drive is even vaguely challenging.)
I don't have any trouble at all in my 981 Boxster S with PASM and it's my daily driver. Mind you, I live in North Yorkshire and there aint that many speed humps. I go into Leeds and York but again, now I think about it, there aren't many speed humps there. I did take the Boxster round Europe in 2013 and again, had no issues. My MK Indy R on the other hand bottoms on a crossing tortoise so I simply slow right down and bump a wheel over the humps in that. I do that in the Fez tbh, just to be sure.

I'll find out come spring as I bought a 997.2 GT3RS last week and haven't really driven it yet cos the roads are full of salt. No doubt then I'll be on here posting how ridiculous Porsche are for not offering lift on the GT4!!

standard a/c is utter rubbish .. there is no temperature control by the system so you have to constantly fiddle with the ‘temp’ and fan setting – inconvenient as the gear stick is usually in the way. The temp setting merely adjusts how much heat/cool comes out of the system, and does not monitor cabin temperature. The fan speed is also not self regulating at all.
First world problems eh.

128 cars coming to the UK and 3 to Leeds and..............I didn't get one.

Wanted to keep my deposit until next year to see if I 'might' get one in next years batch.

So I've cancelled my order. I'm off to buy a 356 Coupe. Sod it.

My local OPC is leeds and I've not been told this it! When did you register your interest in the car?
Months ago, can't remember exactly. Summer last year. He stated they were getting 3 cars as were all dealers so anyone beyond number 3 on the order list can forget it for this year.

Asked me if I wanted to give him an LOI for the Boxster gt4 in case one was announced but whilst I own a Boxster s (my DD) which is a great car I don't think it would suit the GT treatment. I have an LOI in for a gt4rs in case one appears but frankly I can't see it happening.

Anyhoo, ce la vi. I'll console myself with my gt3rs and other cars and I think I'll stick a 356 Coupe in the garage space I had reserved for the gt4. There's one at Samuel Lawrence I've had half an eye on.

Enjoy the thread everyone. I'm oot!
