Hi all, I'm thinking about buying a used cayman s 987 gen 2 from a used car dealer with 10 months porsche warranty left on it. Do you think it is worth getting an independent inspection on the car or the fact it is a pre approved porsche just 13 or so months ago it should be ok?
Also, anything I should look out for?
All words of wisdom greatfully received!
Thanks!

Thanks for the input guys. Dealer said he gets all his cars through BMW trade-ins. Would this affect the warranty?

Is the porsche warranty only valid when sold directly between private seller and buyer? I'm a little confused about the warranty now.

Due to hear from the dealer today about what he will offer for my a current car. Just might put a deposit down pending a positive inspection and understanding of the warranty.

Thanks for replies. Real shame, doesn't appeal so much now as the thought of having porsche warranty till 2016 was a real selling point for me.

Hmm, lots to think about for me. I would much prefer a porsche warranty to nothing. I need to speak to the dealer, although I think the deal so far has been pretty good but I don't know if the dealer understands the warranty won't stand or be passed on.
An independent check through Peter Morgan is a must I think.

Spent nearly 2 hours going over the car on Saturday morning - and it's fantastic. Managed a decent test drive too, all seemed well other than a squeak from the brakes at low speed, dealer said he would have this sorted along with some other minor issues.

All going well I'm sure to pick it up next Friday afternoon, I can't wait!

So it is grey blueish colour cayman s, pdk, xenon headlamps, navigation and Bluetooth... Not sure what else there is really other than I love it. Already completed about 250 miles in it this weekend. One issue...the break squeak at low speeds is back! Must get that seen tO as it will drive crazy!

It's all porsche brakes, no mods as far as I can tell. Brakes look about 50% through their life I reckon. I shall have to see how it gets on over the next month or so. Might need to take it in to be checked I guess. Sometimes they squeak, sometimes not but it is only when breaking slowly from slow spees, such as driving in traffic.

Hmm, that is a shame. I wonder what it could be that is causing the squeak? I agree it is embaressing and not something that should happen to a sports car, with expensive breaks!

Trev450, is that easy to apply yourself? I'm going to give it a go, the squeal is awful! If people look at the car i want ot be because they like it not because it sounds like it has london bus brakes!
