Pictures were taken by somebody at pff.de. As expected both Boxster and Cayman have identical engine tunes now. Looks like Miami Blue as the launch colour?

The rear looks better in the video than I expected.
I still prefer the 981 looks overall but wouldn't say no to a 982 GT4 with N/A 4.0L engine.

I agree with the front bumper and VAG look comments.
The 981 had hints of 918 in its front design language, that seems to be completely gone and flattened in the 982.

Prices in Euro. Same power output, same equipment. 718 Cayman is slightly cheaper than the 981 when you consider the extra standard equipment (PCM, Xenon, etc)

718 Cayman = 51.623 Euro
718 Cayman S = 64.118 Euro

718 Boxster = 53.646 Euro
718 Boxster S = 66.141 Euro

Somewhat bizarrely the uk configurator has a picture of the 718 Cayman under the heading 718 - rather than the boxster. (though when you go further it does show the Boxster and not the Cayman) It suggests the configurator will be updated soon.
I think it's intentional and part of the rebranding.
It seems likely that they will drop the Cayman and Boxster branding within a year and replace it with 718 Coupé / 718 Roadster or 718 / 718 Cabriolet or something along these lines.

phoned Porsche and no one seems to know when the new Cayman will be available. i test drove the 981C and the 718B this weekend, and was told the 718C wouldn't be announced until around September and wouldn't be available until Nov/Dec.

two days later, the announcement has been made but i phoned them earlier and still no one has any info... one source (some american website) says that deliveries will start in Europe in Summer and in Nov/Dec in the USA.

anyone have any reliable info on this?

by the way the PDF catalog lists a techart-esque SportDesign Package. hurl

thanks. never really been interested in new launches til now so wondering how reliable they're announcement is? in other words, if put down a deposit now, how likely is it that deliveries will actually start when they say? what's past performance like?
My local OPC has two test-drive ready 718 Boxsters standing around because Porsche won't allow the cars to be registered before the official launch date. Press and factory cars are the only exception.

Any word yet if they have "addressed" the gearing issue?
I don't have any numbers but I know that both PDK and manual have taller gearing than in the 981. Of course it feels shorter because of all the torque.

This makes the manual version is almost completely pointless now because you'll spend 90% of your driving in 2nd or 6th gear.
If I had to buy a 718 I'd definitely get the PDK version although I'd strongly prefer manual with a N/A engine. Maybe that's Porsche's way of reducing demand for manuals until they can phase it out without any complaints? Pass me my tinfoil hat.
