Long story short. Considering swapping my 2014 Boxster 2.7 for a 718.

Before pulling the trigger I called our BMW dealer (we also have an M135i) to enquire on M2 lead times (Q1 next year for anyone interested). While on the phone Mr BMW suggests an M4. Proceeds to offer me a truly fantastic deal on a new M4. The only stumbling block is the trade in price for my Boxster.

Boxsters similar to mine (year, mileage, spec etc) are up at OPC's for £35-£37k. Several valuation services have valued it for part-ex at £27-29k. However, Mr BMW says he's contacted two OPC's in their group and was offered £24k & £25k.

I appreciate dealers need to make money and will check and warranty my car before resale but £10k profit on a £35k car???

Should I expect a better part-ex against a new 718?

I just got 33.5k against a 991 for my 62 plate S with 26000 miles. You will almost certainly get a better deal at Porsche. Why don't you phone round a few dealers to ask them re trade-in or if they would buy it off you, otherwise you can always sell to we buy any car or similar?

ETA just seen it's now up at £39k so £5.5k margin,

Thanks Thorny. Just what I was hoping for. Haven't even approached my OPC yet as the BMW deal came as a bit of a surprise.

Hope you don't have to wait too long for the 991. cool

Quick update for anyone that's interested.

After contacting several OPCs (almost all of whom I might add were very prompt and courteous in their responses - apart from one who chatted about life in general for 20mins then never called me back with a value, and another who just emailed me a picture of a 718 Cayman with my current Boxster spec on it. Weird) the difference in values (car unseen to all of them) was fairly wide.

Values ranged from £25k to £28.5k. Guess where I'll be taking my business.

Conclusion: It pays to shop around. smile

Surely it depends on what deal you are going to get on the 718 though?
Doubt there will be any discounts with the 718 being a new model. I'm happy to be proved wrong!

Anyone manage any discount on their 718 order?
