Did the PCGB evening track day at Brands yesterday and got flagged on my first session for noise

(with sport off I might ad) test sticker taken off and not let out again. This was a 102 day and I got 98 static at the noise test. Last week I did a 98 day at Blyton Park and had no trouble at all while others were being flagged. It doesn't make sense......

A few others had the same treatment including a GT4

Most tracks give you a warning and on second time you're off. It's really out of order of Brands to just chuck you off 1st strike. I offered to short shift but they were not having it.

I really can't see see how I was tripping the drive by meter on a 102 day with my PSE off. Had a warning once at Goodwood (very strict on noise) on a 105 with PSE on, turned it off and no problems. Castle Combe a few months ago at 100 no probs......

I think it does seem to depend on weather conditions i.e. air pressure/temp/wind.
Interesting. It was peeing it down and very windy but surely they would have a knowledge and experience of this and take conditions into account.

I don't think it's that scientific unfortunately. My experience is that they're generally trying to work with you to not have to issue the black flag. But then if someone busts the noise limit on the first lap of the day then the organiser can only assume that issue will get worse as the car and driver build up speed during the day. My understanding of the law is that if a circuit receives a noise abatement order that has seriously implications for their operations, up to and including curtailment of all track activity, so you can understand their caution. That's not to say I personally agree with the law on noise, (and I say this as someone directly impacted by aviation noise at home) but the law as it stands is unlikely to be relaxed.
The difference between a 98 day (which I did the week before with no probs) and a 102 is very big in sound DB terms is it not? This is what really puzzles me!

Just a quick update.

Did the same format PCGB evening session last month at Brands, 102 static.

Took a gamble and no problems at all! Only difference being dry and not to windy.

Only trouble now is I'm about to get a GT4 and I believe they are louder even with PSE off?

Agree

Now I've had the chance to really push the GT4. At full chat it's bloomin loud! But a lot less pops etc.

I'm in love.

As luck would have it my first track day in it is at Blyton Park and they are not quite as draconian so I can gauge the damage!
