My 2009 Cayman with just 24k miles is creaking at lower speeds when turning the steering wheel, usually only once warmed up and doesn't seem to happen as much when the weather is wet. It's been into Porsche and typically the creaking didn't occur when they had it, they checked it over but couldn't see any issue. Took it into a specialist today and because it was wet couldn't get it to replicate the noise. Of course, on the drive home it started again!

This youtube clip shows the exact same problem I am experiencing. Does anyone have any ideas what this is and whether it's likely to be covered by warranty?

Thanks, that's a good idea. The sound is definitely coming from in front of me, and I think to the left (i.e. in front of the passenger)

Just had the exact same fixed at Parr - top mounts on the front struts.

If the car was squeaking over bumps, then it's the coffin arm ball joints. Two common 987 front end squeaks.

Mine is an 09 car is well, with 40k miles. Issue only reared its head when the weather got warm!
Thanks, yes mine is much worse in hot weather, creaking like a pensioner around Italy in 35 degrees last month.

It's not doing anything over bumps, will get them to check the top mounts. Is this likely to be covered by warranty? I suspect not but with such low mileage it shouldn't be happening.

This is an OPC diagnosis from probably 2012 60k major service.(986) Sorry, try not to get a heart attack smile I know they are different cars but the noise is very identical to mine.

eek

ouch! this is my worry, car is covered by Porsche warranty, I take it in, they find the fault and charge me that much because it's "wear and tear". Does anyone have experience of a warranty claim on something like this, at 24k miles I think it should be covered!

Thanks for the suggestion on the spring, will look into that if I cannot identify the sound elsewhere. Doubt I'd be willing to give that a go myself though

Mine went into Porsche this week to get looked at as there was a suggestion from them it might be covered by warranty. Anyhow they diagnosed that noise was coming from one of the top mounts, with cost to replace both and alignment of £1,200. I declined, and charged £99 for diagnosis.

Apparently the part hasn't failed, and therefore not covered, despite the fact it creaks continually at low speed. In my mind, that's a part failure at 20k miles when I first took it in. Annoyed but not that surprised from what I've read before.
