I've noticed a very annoying noise coming from the dash of my 987 boxster, sounds like it's from the right hand corner of the dash perhaps where if meets the cover on the windscreen pillar.

The noise seems to come on after a while driving with heaters on full so I guess something is expanding and rubbing.

The noise is kind of creaky more than rattley but hard to say for sure as trying to pinpoint it while driving is difficult.

I've tried poking rubber packing in various places with no joy.

Anybody had similar and solved it, how hard is it to get the plastic section at the top of the dash to the windscreen off?

Cheers in advance.

Thanks John, this sounds easy to check so I will but I forgot to add, if I force my hand into the gap between the door top and the edge of the dash the noise quietens / goes altogether.

Thanks for your replies.

John, I'll have a look at those plastic pieces at the end of the dash, I looked to see if I could get them out but didn't want to break anything.....

Glassman, I'm pretty sure it's from the end of the dash as I can stop it by forcing my hand between the door and the dash, my wife seems to agree as can hear it from the same area even from the passenger side.

So the noise continues to drive me insane whenever I need the heaters on full....

I've prized of the plastic trims from the end of the dashboard to no avail.

I'm beginning to wonder if it is something in the heater vents or ductwork, anybody ever removed the vents, is it a difficult job?

Weather has recently been warm enough to knock the heating down to 20 odd and no noise, if it's on full for a decent length of time it comes back.
