Evening all. I’m on the lookout for a interesting colour GT4 (sub £70k with leather dash) and interested in the car below:

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202307270...

Rang the dealer all sounded good and above board but my wife noticed the badge spacing on the rear is completely wrong.

Are you able to specify Caymans from new with the Porsche lettering deleted? Or is possible evidence of a poor repair?

I was going to go view the car with a view to buying but it’s put me off.

It might be that it had or has PPF and someone hasn't done the best spacing job on fixing the logo back.....or it was this owners https://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&...

and for a few £K more, this is a faaaaar better one. The one you have your eye on it over priced.

Will give GVE a call tomorrow. Was hoping I’d pick up a yellow car with dash and the buckets but no such luck as yet (from a dealer)

….or

Ticks all your boxes but not a dealership sale. Considering it has full Porsche ongoing Warranty and service history why pay dealer rates?
Sounds daft but I don’t think I could spend that on a car without some dealership back up should it be a crapper

I’ve bought from that dealer. Car was and is fine. IMHO they are the car supermarket for higher end cars. Some very high end.

That business model doesn’t support detailed preparation.

It doesn’t mean the car is a lemon though.
How was your car when you collected it? Was it prepared nicely etc?

Gave the dealer a call on this one

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202307079...

Salesman didn’t seem very enthusiastic and the car hadn’t been serviced since early 2020. Not a deal breaker but the prices are so near to 718 gt4’s it almost seems daft not to look at them too…

The RPM teknic cars look overpriced to my eyes in this market (although very good condition).

The search goes on!

Thanks for everyone’s help. I’ve just put a deposit on a 718 GT4 with leather dash, 918 buckets in a Gentian Blue!

Literally can’t wait to pick it up in a couple of weeks!

Can I be rude please and ask how much movement there was in price? I'm considering 718 or 981 Spyder and GT4 at the moment and curious to know if OPCs are sticking to their prices or if discounts can actually be had.

Congrats on the car - I had a manual 718 GT4 for a while and it was a fabulous car. Incredible machines on track.
I didn’t haggle to be honest. It came up on Autotrader at a well known supercar dealer In Knaresborough for £74,995.

Went to view it fell in love and put a deposit down. Leather dash/doors, buckets with yellow contrast stitching, gold wheels. Looks jizz

Rang up about the python green pdk at another very popular midlands dealer. Salesman was so rude he put me off buying the car

On another note I’d be very wary of spending over £80k on anything less than almost new in this market. I’ve noticed some cars sat for months.

wow, great combo with those stiches yellow and wheels and buckets and that blue, nice one.
Cheers bud, I’m well chuffed. Took a bit of acclimatisation on the test drive after driving a Gr Yaris for the past two years!

That sounds like a great deal! what was the year/miles if you don’t mind me asking?
2 owners from new, 14k miles and 2020 plate.

I never really considered the 718 as it was waaay above 981 prices/my budget.

But this and a few other decent spec ones have come up recently and it’s a buyers market.

The dealers asking over 90-100k are in for some heavy losses IMO.

I think I can understand that coming from the GRY, bet the seating position and steering and pedals, a compleet different position when coming directly out the GRY.
I bet it takes some getting used to that after such time, I wonder then what your experiences will be compared to the GRY , after a few weeks driving time in the GT4, and then back in the GRY from high to low to high seating and different way/feel to the things you touch with your feet/hands.
I absolutely loved my GR and did lots of fun drives, commuting, track days in the 2 years I had it.

The cars performance was so accessible I had to recalibrate my brain back to ‘normal aspiration’ mode when I test drove the gt4. The Yaris is just so eager and the gears are tightly stacked compared to the cayman. Great view of the road being sat high up too when pressing on.

But I know il get used to winding out the revs in the gt4 and can’t wait for a new challenge!

As a mate said ‘Gotta catch em’ all’ ( must have collected Pokémon cards as a youth like me hehe)

Though I’d give an update on GT4 life. It be done 4,000 miles in the last 6 months. A variety of work, leisure drives round the peaks and moors and even a sprint. A couple of upcoming track days booked at Donington and Anglesey - it’s a great car! (Still miss the GR Yaris a bit though..)

Using the kerbs at Blyton Park sprint. Car could do with a bit more front camber for track work but still did a 1 min 9.9 sec lap so not slow.
