Hi,

My cobalt 964 is up for renewal. They also want a valuation as they have insured it for over 6 years at the same value.

Can anybody recommend somewhere for classic policy 2k miles a year ( actually about 300 but I want to use it more this year) to gets quotes

And what should I say is current value for 1992 cobalt c4

Thanks in advance

I can recommend Classic line insurance.

They have a standard 1500 mile policy, you can increase the limit with a phone call if you need it and they are also happy to give you an agreed value certificate subject to a suitable valuation by a specialist. They will even cover most recognised track days and can arrange a multi-car policy if you have 2!
Excellent thank you.

Wait I know they went up some I saw were around 20k last time I looked but 40k

I've had this car ten years and can't think of anything I could replace it with but 40k

They can't surely be selling for that can they.

I contacted impact bumpers and they are giving me a quote when I supply some pics.

I asked the same question about 12 months ago on rennlist;

http://rennlist.com/forums/964-forum/799882-insura...

Ended up using John Glynn from impact bumpers, who valued my c4 manual coupe with 90k at £25k.
Thanks yes that's who I emailed through an impact bumper link.

I was charged an extra £40 or £50 this year to agree the cover for my C2 manual Targa at £25k. My specialist tells me that this is not enough to replace the car like for like and valued it at £30k.

I have sent the valuation through to my insurers so we will see if they ask for anymore premium given the extra £5k that I guess I am asking to be covered.

Funny that the car was valued by the same specialist in 2013 at £16k.
How much is it costing overall

Mine was £440 for agreed 17k

Agreed value?
we suggested 30k and told them them we were waiting for an independent valuation from a specialist but it hasn't arrived yet.

they were good with that and said just get in contact when it arrives. if its more or less it wont affect anything according to the lady on the phone.

for 4 or so years I've hardly used mine. various reasons mainly time/work/ health.

I decided I need to use it and planned a European trip last year but couldn't take the Porsche. found an issue with rear brake pipe as I was checking it over the day before we were going frown

but i paid a fortune for euro breakdown. had to get a full year and pay extra. so yeah its already a huge bargain.

Ive been doing the odd track day in it uninsured so that's great that some are covered (shame pcgb don't do donnington)

im very impressed and also annoyed I never got my act in gear for the last 6 years just renewing because it seemed cheap.

The mrs phoned clasic line they wanted 330 plus 20 for agreed value. I asked her to get details of track days etc but she forgot. they never mentioned breakdown but i assume its comparable.

for the extra it might have been worthwhile going with clasic line if they covered more track days but time was running out (up today) and loctons were very easy and pleasant on the phone to me and that's a first for car insurance.

Update. Valuation came through at 38k ( anybody want a 964 smile )

Loctons agreed to this valuation but pushed the price up another £64 to £328
So still a batprgain considering what I was paying and what benefits I got but not quite as happy as I was /.
