Reputable 911 restorers..

I've got a friend who has a 1970's 911 that's sat for quite some time and now needs a full body resto, and mechanical rebuild..

Who's rated currently? Autofarm? Canford? BS Motorsports?

Preferably southern UK based..

Thanks for the recommendations folks - a lot of love for Precision Porsche, so they're definitely on the list!

Time to take lots of photos and send some emails I think! The car's not roadworthy so it would need trailering so ideally I'd want some of these guys to come and see the car to see if they could give an outline estimate of what work was required but I'd imagine they'd all say they'd need the car on site to strip it before being sure?

Hi Strugs, just spoke to him and in principle he said he wouldn't be able to start for approx. 1 year (next June) and if it is a full restoration (Body work, welding/fabrication, full interior re-trim, paint, engine, gearbox, full chassis...) it could take upto 1 year to complete. Besides customer cars, he currently owns a 3.0RS and 964RS, and has owned plenty of other 60's and 70's 911's so knows AC 911's inside out. He has impeccable standards and is meticulous in what he does. I have seen many a rusted old barn wrecks, brought back to life by him, so no job is too big. As mentioned previously, his rates will be far more palatable than anyone in the UK. I'll go over to his workshop later and dig out some of the pictures of before and after projects he has done to give you an idea of what I am talking about.

UK (and southern) out of preference as my friend likes to make regular-ish visits to see progress into his cars (he's not one of those customers though!) and it would be a tad more practical to be UK-based. Not beyond the realms of possibility though, so message sent!

Cracking, thank you! Seems like he'd be good to get a quote from. I think our plan is to get some quotes from some of the UK-based guys mentioned on here, along with a 'worst case' list of work required and then send that list over to him along with the pics of the car (when I get round to taking some!)..
