993 C2 Best sounding exhaust
Discussion
The previous owner of my 993 fitted a Dansk box which, to my ears, is too bassy at around 2500-3000 revs. I'm planning on having it swapped but I was wondering if anyone had an opinion on what systems sound the best (not necessarily the loudest). I'm tempted to go back to a factory box but wondered if there are any other options people have gone with. Thanks

i can definitely say what I wouldn't recommend and that is "oem Motorsport" back boxes. Mine has always been serviced by a well known specialist and these have been my only disappointment. The car had the "sport" air box which is basically the original with holes drilled in the side and some flashy chrome - but the induction roar was great when pressing on. My original boxes had to be replaced because the pipes rusted (not the box itself) and the replacement is very boomy. Just not a nice sound and it drowns out the induction roar as you go past 4K revs.
I need to hear what the RSR ones sound like. BTW I like noise, but it has to be the right noise.
Good luck.
Completely agree. Loud doesn't always mean good....Johnny Herbert's Le Mans Mazda 787B for example. Anyone subjected to 24 hours of that won't forget bleeding ears and liquefied internal organs (although I believe there were some masochists who actually enjoyed that), but I digress. I need to hear these RSRs and compare to my Dansk....it's only within a specific rev range (but fairly crucial 2500-3000) when the booming is annoying and if other systems are similar then it would be a waste of money switching. I'm fairly happy with the note otherwise. Maybe I should just accept it as another of my toys idiosyncrasies and embrace it. Let's not forget we're driving 20+ year old tech. Anyone running RSRs in or around Surrey?I need to hear what the RSR ones sound like. BTW I like noise, but it has to be the right noise.
Good luck.
