ASR kicking in

I am getting a problem on my 360 with the ASR cutting the engine revs. It is usually on a track (sorry, Ferrari Experience Day) on the out laps (i.e. hot) and will run like a bucket of nails for about half a lap, then OK. I can get round this by turning on Sport, which I think cuts back on ASR. Definitely not wheel spin (dry and straight bits), and the other day was whilst joining the M1 behind a truck, so not going fast or revving much either. Problem is that it is intermittent, so hard to do a diagnostic, and in my experience, these things get worse, not better.

Very grateful for any suggestions of where to start looking?

Thanks for the various replies guys:

johnnyreggae - the light on dash coming on with 'ASR'

Pau1 and voicey - I have stuck with 18", but have got two sets - the 'Starfish' running Michelin Sport, and a set of BBS challenges with Pirelli Trofeos. The ASR kicks in on both.

mike01606 - normally the car is a beaut handling, and the ASR is as it should be - comes on when I run out of talent. It is definitely not a case of kicking in because the wheels are spinning - on the straight, dry track modest revs. I only think it is a heat issue as it only affects the car for a minute or so and usually at the start of a run on the track - i.e. the car has sat for about 30min while I have a cup of tea. After the minute, it then behaves. It has only ever (so far) kicked up at the start of a run after sitting, and whilst hot.

BTW - it is a manual, so not a F1 box issue.

'Spect I will find out when it fails completely, and I have to buy a new ECU!

OK - it sounds like you do have a problem (as opposed to it being normal). Have you had the car connected to an SD machine to check for errors? Your profile says you are in Beds which means you're not too far from Ed @ Dove House (who kindly posted in this thread). An hour or so of diagnostic time might be money well spent.
Cheers for the thought Aldous, but yes I have had a diagnostic run. Unfortunately, as this is intermittent (and possibly the electrics really think there is wheel spin) nothing shows up as abnormal. I guess it will be one of those gremlins that gets worse until it really breaks, then I can spot it. At least the ASR has an off switch to get me home, although I would rather not drive around too long like this.

Reluctant to swap the ECU on the off chance that this is the problem.

BTW - thanks for the tip on Dove House. I didn't fid this when I was looking for someone nearby.

May just need the ASR recalibrating.
Not heard of this - how does this get done?

Do you do the FOC track dyas? If so then it might be worth asking whichever dealer is running support to monitor the ASR parameters with their SD3 whilst you go out.
That is a great idea! I was at Oulton yesterday, and wish I had thought of it. Doh!

Remember that placing the car on a trickle charger isn't the same as a battery conditioner/maintainer, which is intelligent enough to keep the battery in top shape without feeding it with a constant charge. Plenty of info out there and ctek & accumate are two brands to look at. If you already have the car hooked up, ignore this post!
on the accumate when not on the road, and new battery. will try earth straps, but as this is only an issue when hot am not sure if this will be an answer,

Thanks chaps,
